Willie Robertson reveals how a single Gospel conversation changed trajectory of ‘Duck Dynasty’ family

The Robertson family, made famous by the hit TV show “Duck Dynasty” hasn’t been shy about sharing their faith or their struggles.

The Christian Post reports that Willie Robertson credits an Arkansas pastor who shared a message with family patriarch Phil Robertson in the 1970s for making a lasting difference in their lives.

That message was a turning point, according to Willie, which led Phil to turn his life around following struggles with alcoholism and a broken marriage. The story of that message is dramatized in the 2023 film “The Blind

Willie Robertson said, “After we came out with ‘The Blind’ last year about Phil and Kay’s life, I thought, ‘What if that hadn’t happened? What if that guy didn’t go up there and preach the Gospel out of fear?”

Robertson went on to add, “Every day of my life, someone has been impacted by what happened 50 years ago. Because of what was able to come out of that, when you start thinking about the television show that reached hundreds of millions of people, still does every day … all the books, the movies, the podcast, all the things that have pointed people in some way to the Gospel, to the light, I can trace all that back.”

According to the Christian Post, Willie’s wife Korie Robertson has previously shared how the family has heard countless stories of individuals who have been baptized, delivered from addiction or healed their marriages after hearing Phil’s story.

Robertson says he hopes his family’s story can serve as a testament to the power of faith and the spiritual transformation that can follow a simple conversation.
