Lime Scooters disables riding over LGBT pride display after teens charged with felonies

An electric scooter company has taken steps to prevent riders from approaching a pride mural painted on a Spokane, Washington street after 3 teens were arrested for desecrating the government-funded symbol.

The Christian Post reports that Lime Scooters will now prevent riders from approaching the pride display to prevent further incidents. Three teenagers were arrested and charged with felonies after leaving skid marks on the mural.

In a June 6 press release, the Spokane Police Department said: “Officers observed widespread damage as black scuff marks consistent with scooter wheels were observed across the entirety of the mural. The area is clearly marked to keep traffic away as it was just re-painted to repair previous damage.”

The scooter company denounced the vandalism and established a “no-go zone” near the pride mural, meaning that if a rider approaches the pride display, the scooter will automatically come to a stop.

The Christian Post reports that this is one of a handful of incidents this year in which LGBT street murals have been defaced with tire marks.
