Doctor who exposed trans procedures at Texas Children’s Hospital faces 10 years in prison

A Texas doctor is potentially facing 10 years in prison after blowing the whistle on the largest pediatric hospital in the U.S. for performing transgender procedures on minors in secret.

The Christian Post reports that 34 year old surgeon Dr. Ethan Haim is facing four felony counts from the U.S. Department of Justice after exposing that “gender affirming services” were being performed on minors, despite the hospital claiming otherwise.

The four indictments were handed down earlier this month and claim that Haim accessed information within the hospital’s electronic system “without authorization.” U.S. Attorney Alamdar Hamdani alleges that Haim went to the press rather than to what he termed “appropriate authorities” with the information.

Haim allegedly leaked proof of the hospital’s actions to journalist Christopher Rufo last year and within 24 hours of the story being published, Texas lawmakers outlawed such procedures for minors, effective Sept 1, 2023.

Rufo, in a later article, clarified that the information leaked by Haim redacted the minor patients’ key personal information. However, according to the Christian Post, the DOJ claims the records retained dates of service, diagnosis, procedure codes and physician names.

Haim told the Christian Post earlier this year, “These people are corrupt. And the only way to expose it is to not play into this Kabuki theater, like these people are practitioners of justice. Because if we were to collude with them, we would be sanctioning our own destruction.”

Haim’s legal defense fund has raised $668,000 as of this week.
