Evangelist Shane Pruitt urges Christians to avoid being a ‘jerk for Jesus’ or ‘coward for Christ’

Christian evangelist Brett Pruitt is urging the faithful to stand up for biblical truths while cautioning them against acting like a “jerk for Jesus” or a “coward for Christ.”

The Christian Post reports that Pruitt’s remarks were intended to inspire believers to become more effectively involved in political discourse.

In a Facebook post last week, Pruitt lamented that for a “very long time, the world has been bullying the Church into silence on certain issues because the world wants to dominate that conversation,” adding,  “They’ll tell the Church ‘Hey, you can’t speak on that, that’s a political issue and you’re being too political.’”

Pruitt offered matters like abortion as well as “who determines what marriage is” and “who determines what sex and gender is” as examples of issues that were biblical truths before they became political statements.

In contending for the truth, Pruitt warned Christians that, “Nowhere in the Bible does it give us an excuse to be a jerk for Jesus but it also doesn’t give us an excuse to be a coward for Christ. We always talk about needing a heart for Christianity and a heart for ministry. Yes, we need a heart but sometimes, we need a spine and a backbone, too.”

According to the Christian Post, Pruitt’s remarks did not specifically mention the 2024 presidential election but touched on topics that have become central to both presidential campaigns.
