5 heartwarming movies to watch with family this Thanksgiving

As families gather to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, many will use that time to watch movies together.

The Christian Post has pulled together 5 recommended movies that will inspire and entertain the entire family over the holiday weekend.

The first recommendation is Angel Studio’s new release “Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin” which chronicles the real life story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor who denounced Hitler from the pulpit. The film explores the complexities of Bonhoeffer’s life from a promising academic to a man willing to give his life for what he believed is right.

Next, is “A Little Women’s Christmas” which depicts a contemporary retelling of Louisa May Allcott’s classic novel. The film follows the lives and loves of the March sisters during Christmas in a small Tennessee town.

The next recommendation is “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” directed by “The Chosen” creator Dallas Jenkins. This heartwarming film, which is currently playing in theaters, tells the story of the unruly Herdman children who inadvertently end up in the lead roles of a church Christas pageant.

“Wicked” is also recommended as a story of compassion, understanding and not judging others by their appearance. This prequel to the Wizard of Oz teaches powerful lessons on the biblical values of love and empathy for others, regardless of their circumstances.

Finally, “A Christmas Less Traveled” brings a story of hope and faith as a woman retraces her family’s most memorable moments as she grapples with the prospect of selling her deceased father’s cherished classic pickup truck. This movie also contains an underlying theme of forgiveness that will touch the hearts of family members of all ages.
