Demonic statue outside NH State House destroyed within 48 hours: ‘Santa wouldn’t do this’

A demonic statue that was erected near a Nativity scene outside the New Hampshire State House has been destroyed just two days after it was put up.

The Christian Post reports that the statue of the demon Baphomet was erected on Saturday by the Satanic Temple (TST) as part of its ongoing tradition of placing satanic displays near Nativity scenes on public property.

According to New Hampshire Public Radio, Christian symbols, including a cross and a Christmas ornament and a Santa hat were left at the scene.

Police are investigating the vandalism and Concord Deputy Police Chief John Thomas toldĀ NHJournal, “Santa wouldn’t do this, Santa loves everybody.”

State Rep. Ellen Read, a Democrat from Newmarket who invited the display, suggested that religious people were behind the vandalism, saying that they “could not tolerate a simple expression of beliefs by a group that doesn’t believe as they do.”

Last year in the Iowa state capitol, a similar satanic display was toppled by former Mississippi House of Representatives candidate Michael Cassidy who was subsequently charged with a felony hate crime.

The hate crime charge was dropped in May in exchange for Cassidy pleading guilty to a charge of criminal mischief.

Cassidy told the Christian Post, in an interview last December that, “The people who wrote our Constitution would be shocked to think of defending Satan as consistent with their beliefs when they wrote the laws that govern our nation.”

Cassidy added, “People start overcomplicating the truth, which is that God is great and should be honored, and the devil is evil and should not be honored,” he said. “I think people are tying themselves in knots trying to justify it, and it’s really a lot simpler than that.”
