Elon Musk backs call for releasing names of lawmakers who used ‘sexual slush fund’

Entrepreneur Elon Musk has joined two members of Congress in calling for transparency regarding the names of federal lawmakers whose offices have used taxpayer dollars to settle claims of sexual harassment.

The Christian Post reports that Congressman Thomas R. Massie (R-KY) published a post on X on Dec 26 which stated, “Congress has secretly paid out more than $17 million of your money to quietly settle charges of harassment (sexual and other forms) in Congressional offices.”

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) shared Massie’s post and voiced her support for his suggestion.

A 2017 report released by the Office of Compliance of the U.S. Congress revealed that a total of 272 settlements, totalling $17.2 million were paid out between 1997 and 2017.

Elon Musk who is the CEO of X, SpaceX and Tesla, responded to Massie’s post last week, saying, “Whoa? Yeah.”

Musk has been tapped by president-elect Donald Trump to help lead a newly formed advisory council called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in an effort to pinpoint and eliminate government waste.

Trump states that the responsibilities of DOGE will include “slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure” federal bureaucracies.

DOGE will also be tasked with driving out “the massive waste and fraud” that exists within the federal government.

According to the Christian Post, Musk’s suggestion to make public the names of federal lawmakers using taxpayer dollars to settle harassment claims raises questions as to how much longer the practice will be allowed to continue.
