Planned Parenthood broke tax law by providing workspace to Harris campaign: IRS complaint
January 16, 2025
A Planned Parenthood office in Sarasota, Florida is accused of violating tax laws by allowing the Sarasota Democratic Party to host a Harris-Walz campaign event in October of 2024.
The Christian Post reports that the pro-life advocacy group 40 Days for Life filed a complaint with the IRS last month over the apparent violation of Planned Parenthood’s tax-exempt status.
According to the complaint, the Planned Parenthood chapter hosted a phone bank event with individuals making calls over the course of several days and a Harris/Walz campaign sign displayed at the entrance.
The complaint alleges that “Planned Parenthood’s activities appear to constitute prohibited political activities. They clearly advocate for one party and particular candidates.”
40 Days for Life CEO Sean Carney told Fox News Digital, “This is one of the many violations we’ve seen Planned Parenthood do because we’re physically at these abortion facilities, holding peaceful vigils and offering medical alternatives to abortion.”
Carney added, “This was clearly noticeable. They were giving out flyers that said Tim Walz Tuesdays, which doesn’t sound like the greatest time in the world, but nevertheless, they were promoting all these events of hosting Walz-Harris campaign events and providing their space to do that, which, of course, they did not do for the Republicans.”
According to the Christian Post, a 40 Days for Life spokesman said that the group has yet to receive confirmation from the incoming Trump administration as to whether there will be an investigation into the event.
