Police training materials label Moms for Liberty as extremist group
August 4, 2025
A Massachusetts police training organization reportedly used training materials that labeled the parental rights group Moms for Liberty as an “anti-government extremist organization” like Antifa.
The Christian Post reports that the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) used training material describing Moms for Liberty as an “anti-government extremist” group.
That particular label was first applied to Moms for Liberty by the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center which trains law enforcement to view individuals and groups on the political right as a threat.
The material used by MPTC takes a dismissive view of Moms for Liberty’s view of parental rights, claiming that “members use parents’ rights as a vehicle to attack public education and make schools less welcoming for minority and LGBTQ+ students.”
According to the Christian Post, the training also appears to lump Moms for Liberty in with the radical left-wing group Antifa which was involved in much of the rioting and property damage related to the death of George Floyd in 2020.
Tina Descovich is a mother of five who helped to found Moms for Liberty.
Descovich told the Daily Wire, “Moms for Liberty is here to show up at school board meetings, speak out against curriculum, failing schools, inappropriate books maybe in your public school library. Antifa is burning down whole cities and parts of cities and rioting in the streets. These two are not equivalent.”
Descovich added, “We want parents to have the ability to opt out of sexualized books or curriculum, things that don’t align with their religious beliefs as the Supreme Court just affirmed in their most recent ruling in the Montgomery County, Maryland case.”
“You know, we have parental rights that were given to us by God. We just want parents to be the driving factor in a child’s education,” she said.
The law enforcement training materials in question were flagged by members of the Plymouth, Massachusetts Moms for Liberty chapter who demanded answers as to why police would single them out.
