Outgoing Oklahoma schools superintendent announces TPUSA partnership
September 29, 2025
Outgoing Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters has announced a sweeping partnership with Turning Point USA (TPUSA) to establish chapters in every high school across the state.
The Christian Post reports that a Sept. 23 press release from the Oklahoma Department of Education states that TPUSA will help students establish chapters in public, private and homeschool settings as long as there are at least 3 students signed up from each school.
TPUSA officials will also help chapters to secure official school recognition as well as materials, mentorship and working with teachers for chapter sponsorship.
Walters, who has successfully pushed for inclusion of Bible curriculum in public schools since his appointment in 2018, said that the assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk earlier this month has renewed the mobilization of young people to “fight back” against the “radical left.”
Walters, who recently announced his resignation, said, “We will be putting TPUSA on every high school campus in Oklahoma. Charlie Kirk inspired a generation to love America, to speak boldly, and to never shy away from debate. Our kids must get involved and active.”
Walters added, “We will fight back against the liberal propaganda, pushed by the radical left, and the teachers unions. Our fight starts now.”
According to the Christian Post, the initiative between TPUSA, Hillsdale College and nearly 40 other groups, focuses on “renewing patriotism, strengthening civic knowledge, and advancing a shared understanding of America’s founding principles in schools across the nation.”
Walters announced that he was resigning from his position as Superintendent of Public Instruction to become the CEO of the nonprofit religious liberty group Teacher Freedom Alliance.
