New Poll: 52% of Christians Say ‘U.S. Does Too Much to Try to Solve the World’s Problems’

A new survey conducted for the Philos Project found that 52% of U.S. Christians say the “U.S. does too much to try to solve the world’s problems.”

The online survey of 1,252 Christians was conducted Nov. 14-21 by Lifeway Research on behalf of The Philos Project.

The Philos Project conducted the survey to find U.S. Christians’ views on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

On that topic, more U.S. Christians (56%) say the “optical outcome” to the Israel-Hamas conflict would be an “option that involves negotiations” than those (53%) who support an option that involves “subduing Hamas.”

Additional survey findings include:

  • 59% agree that news stories “often over-simplify reasons for events in the war”
  • 39% agree the “armed rebellion of Palestinians is a natural response to being mistreated by Israel”
  • 43% agree that “most of the Palestinian people in Gaza have supported Hamas’ fight”
  • 31% agree the “Palestinian people in Gaza are responsible for the attacks carried out by Hamas”
  • 50% say the U.S. is doing “the right amount” to help Israel
