Texas surgeon likens ‘gender-affirming care’ to lobotomies: ‘In no way is this medicine’

A whistleblower doctor who exposed a Houston children’s hospital for prescribing puberty blockers to children has called the treatment “barbaric.” The Christian Post reports that general surgeon Dr. Eithan Haim made the remarks at the 2024 Conservative Political Action Conference as part of a panel discussion.

Dr. Haim blew the whistle on Texas Children’s Hospital when he provided internal documents proving that the hospital was still engaging in so-called “gender affirming services” on young patients, after publicly claiming it had paused those procedures.

Haim said he was visited by federal agents who told him he was under criminal investigation for exposing the hospital.

When asked why he chose to blow the whistle, Haim said he felt a responsibility to do something because of his Hippocratic oath to “do no harm.” The surgeon likened what trans activists call “gender affirming care” to lobotomies.

Haim said it’s not possible to treat a psychological issue with what he called “a solution of the body.”

The surgeon also spoke of doctors attempting to “play God” and said, “The actual goal of medicine is to preserve and strengthen what has already been created.”
