‘This takes Angel to an entirely new level’: ’Cabrini’ catapults Utah-based Angel Studios into new territory

The faith-based film “Cabrini” has impressed both critics and audiences while propelling its production company to new heights. The Deseret News reports that Utah-based Angel Studios is crediting its newly released film with taking the company to a “new level.”

The film brought in more than $8 million in its opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

Jordan Harmon is the president and co-founder of Angel Studios. Speaking of the film, Harmon said: “This takes Angel to an entirely new level as a studio. Because it’s not just an incredibly impactful story, it is a cinematic masterpiece in terms of what is has done and how they told the story.”

The film tells the story of the first American saint Francesca Cabrini, who overcame illness, racism and doubt from her male peers as she worked to build hospitals, orphanages and schools across the globe.

According to the Deseret News, “Cabrini” enjoys a 98% audience and a 91% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. The current content from Angel Studios, including “Cabrini” and “The Chosen” has put the studio on a path to worldwide recognition.

Harmon told Deseret News, “We love Utah. Angel right now is either on pace to becoming, or is already close to becoming, one of the most recognizable brands out of Utah in the world. So we’re very grateful for that and we’re honored to carry that torch.”
