Breaking Boundaries: Over Half of All Chosen Viewers Are Not Christians, Data Shows

Christian Headlines reports that roughly half of the viewers of the hit series The Chosen are not Christians. The series launched under humble circumstances in 2017 but went viral in 2020.

According to Katherine Warnock, the vice president of original content, the details of a recent survey are encouraging. Warnock said, “We recently had some data come through that showed about half [of viewers] were either practicing Christians or cultural Christians. And then the other half were either curious about Christianity or just no Christian faith. And we were deeply surprised about that.”

Warnock added that the faith data wasn’t the only surprising part of the survey. She told Christian Headlines that, “We were also surprised about the level of Gen Z and younger that were consuming our show — because our core audience is definitely millennial and older.”

Warnock said that series creator Dallas Jenkins and his writing team have a goal of reaching every demographic and she noted that Jesus attracted “all types of people and worldviews.” Warnock specifically mentioned hearing from an agnostic fan of the series who said he often weeps when watching.

The Chosen is currently in Season 4 and is now available on major platforms such as Netflix and Prime.
