Christians respond to tech CEO’s exposure for apparent adultery at Coldplay concert: ‘A sobering reminder’

Christians have been weighing in on social media following the viral video of a married tech CEO caught cuddling with his HR chief at a Coldplay concert last week in Boston.

The Christian Post reports that Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has resigned from the multi-billion dollar AI company that he helped found after he was caught on a “kiss cam” with his Chief People Officer Kristen Cabot.

When the couple was shown on the kiss cam during the concert, Byron ducked away in shame and Cabot hid her face, prompting Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin to say, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

According to the Christian Post, Byron resigned from his position on Saturday and Cabot was placed on leave.

The video, which has drawn tens of millions of views, has prompted widespread re-enactments at sporting events over the weekend as well as reflection from Christians on social media.

Darrell B. Harrison, who serves on staff at Redeemer Bible Church in Gilbert, Arizona, wrote of the couple’s instinctive response, saying, “Notice how happy they are in their sin — all smiles and hugs — until they realized their sin had been exposed. They knew inherently that they were wrong. No one needed to tell them, their own conscience having already convicted them.”

Meanwhile, Adriel Sanchez, a pastor at North Park Presbyterian Church in San Diego, California, noted, “As embarrassing as it is, it can be a real turning point for those who are willing to take responsibility, and run to Jesus instead of making excuses.”

Christian author and podcast host Jon Harris found encouragement in the overwhelmingly negative response to Byron and Cabot’s alleged affair, saying, “it means that we still have a little bit of a sense of our Christian heritage.”

Babylon Bee Managing Editor Joel Berry referred to the incident as, “A sobering reminder that someday we’ll stand before God, and all our secret sins will be exposed just like this.”
