Democrats losing support among Gen Z men, minorities: poll

A recent poll by Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ) shows that Democrats are losing support among Gen Z men and also among certain minorities in the same demographic.

The Christian Post reports that while Democratic voter registration had remained steady at 47% among young white women, the numbers have fallen sharply among young white men, from 49% to 29%.

The DDHQ poll also found that Democratic registration among young non-white women declined from 80% to 75%, registration of young non-white men dropped from 66% to 54%.

Gen Z typically includes Americans born between 1997 and 2012 and the report drew data from 31 states that report a voter’s party affiliation in voter registration, with the data being as recent as New Years Day.

Democratic activist and former Democratic National Committee vice-chair David Hogg told The Hill, “We cannot genuinely say vote blue no matter who and listen to people who say that when it’s somebody on the right side of the tent, and we’re not supporting the left side of the tent, because that’s how a tent collapses.”

According to the Christian Post, several recent polls show that Gen Z voters aren’t as politically progressive as older adults.

In April, a Yale Youth Poll of 2,025 voters aged 18 to 29 found a significant partisan divide between respondents aged 18-21 and respondents aged 22-29.

In the 2020 Election, voters between 18-29 favored Joe Biden over Donald Trump 61% to 36%. However, in 2024, that gap narrowed as voters aged 18-29 only narrowly supported Kamala Harris over Trump 51% to 47%.
