Elon Musk: ‘God Is the Creator’ and the Universe ‘Came From Something’

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has gone on the record affirming his belief in a Creator and reiterating his stance that the universe could not have happened on its own.

Christianity Daily reports that Musk recently appeared on The Katie Miller Podcast, where he was questioned about a variety of topics.

The conversation shifted to religion when Miller asked Musk about who inspires him the most. Musk answered, “The Creator.”

When Miller followed up by asking Musk about his current beliefs regarding God, he responded, “God is the Creator.” Miller pushed back, asking, “You don’t believe in God, though, do you?”

Musk told her, “Well, I believe this universe came from something. People have different labels.”

According to Christianity Daily, that answer reveals a public evolution in Musk’s thinking about faith. In 2022, Musk had joked that he was okay with going to Hell but he has recently shown a greater acceptance toward Christianity and religion.

Musk has described himself as a “cultural Christian,” since he was brought up as an Anglican and was baptized, although he does not claim to have fully embraced Christianity.

Last year, Musk praised Christianity’s influence on civilization, saying, Western society is “absolutely screwed if it loses Christianity.”
