Jury convicts man who brutally assaulted pro-lifers outside Planned Parenthood
February 12, 2025
A man suspected of attacking two elderly pro-life activists in 2023 has been convicted on assault and reckless endangerment charges by a Maryland jury.
The Christian Post reports that 28 year old Patrick Brice was convicted of beating Mark Crosby and Dick Schaefer outside a Baltimore Planned Parenthood clinic.
According to a statement from the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), Brice may now face up to 20 years in prison.
Baltimore police released video footage of the attack which shows Brice angrily waving his finger at Schaefer before tackling the elderly man to the ground.
Crosby intervened after Schaefer was attacked and was also tacked to the ground and punched and kicked by by Brice leaving the victim with “traumatic injuries to his head, including a fractured bone in his face, blindness in one eye, head and neck pain, two fractured fingers, and bruising on his arms and legs.”
The ACLJ reports that Schaefer suffered, “cuts and scrapes all over his body, as well as a cut on his hand that required special bandaging.”
Though Brice was also charged with first degree assault, the jury did not reach a verdict on that charge.
According to the Christian Post, the assaults took place just a year after the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision which overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide.
That 2022 ruling led to an uptick in attacks against pro-life demonstrators, churches and pregnancy centers.
