Lawmaker who prayed against demonic display urges Christians to show God’s love to satanists

A state senator who took part in a recent prayer gathering objecting to a satanic display in the Minnesota state capitol, has called on his fellow Christians to show love toward satanists while standing firm in their own beliefs.
The Christian Post reports that Republican Minnesota state Sen. Nathan Wesenberg, who is a Catholic, was among roughly 100 citizens and legislators who came together last week to sing Christmas carols and to pray around the display.
After being approved by the Minnesota Dept. of Administration, the display was erected on Dec. 13 by a group calling itself Minnesota Satanists.
Though the display was knocked over, at one point, it is expected to remain up until Dec. 27.
Wesenberg told the Christian Post, “You see these things, and they keep popping up, and at the same time, Christianity is getting torn down, and we need to speak up and say, ‘This is not right.'”
The state senator, who has represented Minnesota’s 10th District since 2023, emphasized that the gathering was not a protest and counseled attendees, “These people that do this, they don’t really love Satan. We got to talk to them and let them know that God’s here for them, and we’re here for them.”
In recent years, satanic displays have been placed in a handful of state capitols including Illinois, Iowa and New Hampshire.
Not all opposition to these displays has been as measured as the Minnesota event.
A statue of Baphomet was destroyed earlier this year within days of being placed in the New Hampshire state capitol.
Also, Navy veteran Michael Cassidy faced criminal charges last year after dismantling a satanic display in the Iowa state capitol.
