Mel Gibson Believes the Loss of His Home Is a ‘Purification’ Before Filming for ‘The Passion’ Sequel Starts

“Passion of the Christ” director Mel Gibson has told Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo that he believes there may be a higher purpose in the loss of his Malibu home in the Palisades fire last week.

Church Leaders reports that Gibson was a guest on the debut episode of “Arroyo Grande” where he was asked about losing the home in which he had lived for the past 15 years.

The 69 year old movie star and director told Arroyo, “It was an odd mixture of of sadness and kind of a weird realization and blessing,” Gibson added, There was valuable stuff, there was personal stuff—that just breaks my heart. I feel like I’m being stripped down and prepared for something else.”

Gibson also confided that he feels “like the Almighty is preparing me to do something big.”

That prompted a question from Arroyo as to whether Gibson was undergoing a kind of “spiritual preparation” for the movie “The Resurrection of the Christ” that he’s about to film.

Gibson responded, “Totally, I think that’s kind of it. It’s like, hey, look, God gives, God takes, we come in with nothing. That’s the same way we go out. And here’s the deal: You’ll always be okay if you seek first the kingdom of God.”

Gibson described the loss of his mansion as an “opportunity” to recreate his path by choosing to see it as as “kind of a blessing and a purification.”

Earlier, in an interview with Joe Rogan, Gibson had stated that he felt the timing of his sequel to “The Passion of the Christ” after 20 years was perfect, given how society is devolving.
