Netflix’s promotion of LGBT themes, sexual preferences in kids’ shows ‘pervasive’: report
December 12, 2025
A new report from the conservative advocacy group Concerned Women for America (CWA), shows a high percentage of 326 Netflix shows aimed at children, feature LGBT content.
The Christian Post reports that the study titled, “LGBTQ Messaging Pervasive In Netflix Children’s Programming,” found that at least 41% of G-rated series and 41% of TV-Y7-rated series contain LGBT-related messages and storylines.
CWA President and CEO Penny Nance called the numbers “shocking” and expressed concern that “most parents are unaware.”
In a statement to the Christian Post, Nance said, “Our new report reveals that children’s programming is not exempt from identity politics — a drastic departure from its historical role. We knew that Netflix aired this kind of programming, but our study quantifies how many children’s programs are subverted by LBGTQ messaging and themes.”
The study distinguished LGBT representation with categories like “explicit” where characters are clearly identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, or nonbinary, “implied” consisting of non-primary characters or ‘queer-coded’ characters and “meta” featuring gay families or participants in reality programming.
Across all age categories, 41% of G-rated series featured LGBT content with 33% of youth-related Netflix programming featuring LGBT themes, storylines or characters.
Nance said conversations about sex and sexuality are “sensitive, personal and different for every family and child,” adding, “No parent wants to be forced to have a conversation about adult sexual preferences or gender identity with their child because of a cartoon.”
