Ohio Faith Leaders Warns Kroger of Potential Boycott Over Radical LGBT Policies
August 18, 2025
Scores of faith leaders from various Ohio congregations have sent a letter to Kroger’s interim CEO, asking that the company distance itself from LGBT initiatives and to maintain a neutral stance in cultural disputes.
Christianity Daily reports that the August 6 letter to Ronald Sargent, the clerical signatories from Presbyterian, Baptist, Foursquare, Lutheran, and non-denominational churches warned that Kroger is supporting “diabolical” and “extremist” LGBT-related positions.
The letter called into question the Cincinnati-based company’s persistent support of “radical LGBT policies” and mentioned an online campaign by a parental rights organization calling for a boycott of Kroger.
In 2019, Kroger was recognized as one of the “best places to work” for LGBT-identified individuals and the company provides an “allyship guide” on its website that promotes LGBT literature, films, and other media.
The letter from the pastors reads, in part, “It has come to our attention that your Kroger Company has been deeply entrenched in the culture war promoting radical LGBT policies and political causes… These radical ‘woke’ positions are divisive and contrary to orthodox Biblical teaching, and in many cases, contrary to federal law.”
According to Christianity Daily, the signatories of the letter say that Kroger’s involvement in pride month activities which promote LGBT inclusion, continues even as other companies are stepping back from the movement.
The letter states, “These radical ‘woke’ positions are divisive and contrary to orthodox Biblical teaching, and in many cases, contrary to federal law.”
The coalition wrapped up its message to Sargent, urging him to “please stay out of politics and do not alienate your customer base.”
