Parents’ hidden fight against gender ideology: ‘It’s everywhere, kids aren’t safe’

A mother who was notified by her son that he identified as a transgender lesbian, recently shared her sense of shock and grief with Christian Post social commentator Brandon Showalter.

Jolene was a guest on Showalter’s “Generation Indoctrination” podcast in an episode titled, “Voices From the Shadows: Parents Secretly Resisting Gender Ideology and Fighting For Their Kids.”

She told Showalter, “We were literally blindsided. I remember my husband was just distraught. He just didn’t even know how to function.”

Jolene’s experience mirrored that of other parents who have struggled with a sense of alienation and lack of support as they attempt to navigate their children’s gender identity struggles.

Showalter says many of these parents feel a need to conceal their identities and to speak from the shadows over fears that they will face social repercussions and possible job loss.

In Jolene’s case, her son’s rapid transition was fueled by online forums and social affirmation, yet left her skeptical when she was faced with discussions about irreversible medical procedures.

Jolene said, “I became much more aware of the seriousness because, within a day or two, he added the stipulation that if we did not affirm this, if we did not allow him to start HRT, specifically within a year, that he would seriously consider either running away or living with a family who would support him.”

In the podcast episode, Showalter talks with several other distraught parents who found themselves dealing with gender identity issues in their children.

According to the Christian Post, these parents find themselves facing social isolation, compounded by a broader cultural message than challenges their concerns.

Showalter expressed hope that parents will continue to break the silence on the struggle of showing love and advocacy for their children without being judged and labeled by society.
