Satanic leader arrested at Kansas Capitol after striking protester

The leader of a satanic group was arrested at the Kansas state Capitol Friday after punching a protestor following a tense demonstration in the Statehouse.

The Christian Post reports that the satanic group’s leader Michael Stewart, had been warned by police that any disruptive actions on his part could be grounds for arrest.

Video footage showed Stewart being taken to the ground by police and taken into custody after punching a Catholic demonstrator who attempted to grab a booklet out of his hands.

An hour earlier, an unidentified man had tackled Stewart on the Capitol lawn while the group leader was attempting to stomp on a communion wafer.

According to Shawnee County jail records, Stewart was later charged with disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly before being released on $1,000 bond.

According to the Christian Post, Marcus Jeremiah Jared Schroder, the man punched by Stewart, was also detained by police and faces similar charges of disorderly conduct.

The demonstration at the Kansas state Capitol drew roughly 30 members of the satanic group who were there to conduct a black mass ritual as well as hundreds of counter-protestors–mainly Catholics.

Stewart had told the Topeka Capital-Journal that the event was organized as a response to lawmakers who he said, “pander” to pro-life groups.

The Kansas House had passed a bipartisan resolution, earlier this month, condemning the satanic ritual as “an explicit act of anti-Catholic bigotry and an affront to all Christians.”

Legal efforts to block the gathering and a lawsuit to recover sacred items that Stewart had purchased online, did not succeed.
